Neck Pain After a Car Accident

Neck pain is one of the most common injuries we treat at County Line — and one of the most frequently underestimated. Dr. Hochstein and our accident team diagnose and treat crash-related neck injuries at all six South Florida clinics. PIP covers your care and we bill your insurer directly.

Why Neck Pain After a Car Accident Shouldn't Wait

The neck is the most vulnerable part of the spine in a collision. Even at low speeds, the sudden force of impact can stretch, tear, or compress the muscles, ligaments, and discs in the cervical spine in ways that don't always produce immediate pain. Many patients feel fine the day of the accident — then wake up two or three days later barely able to turn their head. Delaying evaluation is one of the most common mistakes accident patients make. Florida law gives you 14 days from the date of your accident to seek medical treatment and protect your PIP benefits. Beyond the insurance window, untreated neck injuries can develop into chronic conditions — herniated discs, nerve impingement, and long-term stiffness that are far harder to treat months down the line. If your neck hurts after a crash — or even if it doesn't yet — get evaluated. Early diagnosis is the single most important factor in your recovery.

Common Neck Injuries from Car Accidents

Car accidents cause neck pain through several distinct mechanisms depending on the type of collision and the forces involved. The most common conditions we diagnose and treat include:

Whiplash — rapid back-and-forth motion stretches and tears the muscles and ligaments of the cervical spine. The most common crash injury in rear-end collisions.

• Cervical disc herniation — the discs between vertebrae can bulge or rupture under impact, pressing on nerves and causing neck pain, arm pain, or numbness.

• Cervical strain and sprain — muscle and ligament tears that cause pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion.

• Facet joint injury — small joints along the spine can be compressed or damaged in a collision, causing localized neck and upper back pain.

• Nerve compression — swelling or disc displacement after a crash can pinch cervical nerves, causing radiating pain, tingling, or weakness into the shoulders and arms.

How We Diagnose and Treat Neck Pain at County Line

Your first visit begins with a full orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic examination focused on identifying the exact source of your neck pain. We assess range of motion, nerve function, muscle strength, and structural alignment. Digital X-rays are taken on-site at every location.

For the MRI and CT studies that most accident injury cases require — muscle and ligament damage doesn't show on X-ray alone — we work with trusted, accredited local imaging centers. Our Miami Gardens and Plantation clinics are located directly next door to MRI facilities for same-visit imaging.

Treatment plans are built around your specific diagnosis and may include chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, and corrective exercises. Every plan is customized — no one-size-fits-all protocols. Transportation assistance is available for accident patients who need it.
