Plantar Fasciitis

If you’re suffering from plantar fasciitis, taking that first step after awakening in the morning can be excruciating and unbearable. Also called Policeman’s heel, plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It is an inflammation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot called the plantar fascia.

Your plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue connecting the heel bone to the toes and ultimately supports the arch in your foot. If there is too much tension and stress near the area, the fascia may start to tear, causing irritation or inflammation.

Diagnosing plantar fasciitis

Signs and symptoms

The most common symptom of plantar fasciitis is a stabbing pain in the bottom of the foot near the heel. It usually occurs within your first steps after awakening, although it can also be triggered by long periods of standing. Plantar fasciitis is most common in runners, but is also seen in people who are overweight. Wearing shoes with inadequate arch support can also increase the risk of plantar fasciitis.

Some of the most common causes are:

  • Repetitive foot pounding from activities such as running, tennis, or soccer
  • Insufficient arch support
  • Sudden injury
  • Walking barefooted often

Your health is our top priority

How we help

  • Diagnose your cause of pain

During your first consultation, your chiropractor will start by asking you about your medical history, discuss your symptoms, and if necessary perform digital scans to determine the extent of your plantar fasciitis.

  • Customize a treatment plan

Once your injury is diagnosed, your doctor will perform a non-invasive treatment using minimal force and gentle pressure on your foot to help remove stress and relax the tightened ligaments so that natural healing can take place.

  • Monitor your recovery progress

Depending on the severity of your plantar fasciitis, your customized treatment plan may vary in the number of required follow-up visits. The good news is that County Line Chiropractic may help you feel better and you’ll be on the road to enjoying a higher quality of life.
