Knee Pain

If you have knee pain, you know how much it can affect your daily life. The most basic of daily activities such as picking up a dropped pen, climbing down the stairs, or just getting up from the dinner table can feel so difficult.

When experiencing knee pain, all anatomical components need to be examined in addition to the knee joint. Other areas of the body, such as lower back, pelvis, hip, ankle, and foot, can directly influence the anatomy of your knee, causing pain and swelling to the affected areas and difficulty discerning how to properly heal.

If you aren’t sure what the source of your knee pain is, you do not have to live with the pain, reduce activity level, or up your pain medication. Oftentimes, chiropractic care may address the underlying issues that are causing the knee pain and use a variety of treatments to alleviate the pain.

Diagnosing knee pain

Signs and symptoms

Common symptoms of knee pain are swelling and stiffness, weakness and instability, and inability to fully straighten the knee. Pain can be caused by problems with the knee joint itself or by conditions affecting the soft tissues (ligaments, tendons, or bursae) that surround the knee.

The severity of knee pain can vary widely depending on the injury. Some may feel a temporary and slight twinge whereas others may experience an excruciating pain that debilitates you from almost every daily activity.

Signs and symptoms commonly seen with knee pain include:

  • Swelling and Stiffness
  • Inability to fully straighten the knee
  • Inability to bear weight on knee
  • Instability and weakness when standing
  • Popping noises when bending
  • Redness and warmth
  • Pain and discomfort when bending, walking, or exercising

How we help

  • Diagnose your cause of pain

During your first consultation, your chiropractor will start by asking you about your medical history, discuss your symptoms, perform an orthopedic, neurological, physical, and chiropractic exam, analyze the state and movement of your knee, and maybe even perform an X-Ray scan.

  • Customize a treatment plan

Once your injury is diagnosed, your doctor will perform a non-invasive chiropractic treatment using minimal force and gentle pressure on your knee and surrounding joints to increase range of motion, reduce pain, and improve your knee’s overall function.

  • Monitor your recovery progress

Depending on the severity of your knee injury, your customized treatment plan may vary in the number of required follow-up visits and recommended exercises. The good news is that County Line Chiropractic may help you feel better and you’ll be on the road to enjoying a higher quality of life.
