Driving Safely

Car Accident During the Holiday Season - Visit County Line Chiropractor

On top of the threat of COVID-19, also comes the fact that car accidents are the leading cause of death among people under the age of 54, though many car crash deaths are preventable. Buckling up and driving sober can help you and your family stay safe on the roads during the holidays.

Let’s explore more safety tips to protect teenagers and children while on the road.

  • Always drive sober. Never under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Never let family members drive impaired.
  • Avoid distracted driving. Don’t use your cell phone to email, text, message, or access your social media while driving. Driving safely requires your full attention.
  • Always check the weather. Check along your travel route as well as your destination to ensure you have plenty of time to drive safely to your destination as well as be prepared for potentially inclement weather.
  • Be sure to have child safety seats. Whether rear-facing, forward-facing, or booster seats, are safely and properly secured. Ensure everyone wears seat belts appropriately for maximum safety. If traveling to cooler climates, remove bulky coats before buckling up as bulky clothing/coats can make it difficult to properly secure harnesses and seat belts. You can always place the coat or a blanket over your children or teenagers for added warmth.
  • Children 12 and under. Should be in the back seat in a child safety seat or using a seatbelt

COVID-19 Travel Safety Tips

COVID-19 Safe Driving Tips during the pandemic - Best South FL Chiropractor

Even with many opting to travel by personal vehicle this year, precautions need to be taken to protect young children and teenagers. You’ll want to pack with the pandemic in mind, with masks available for everyone two years old and older:

  • Wearing masks helps prevent the spread as does frequent hand washing (soap and water for 20 seconds).
  • Keep hand sanitizer (at least 60 percent alcohol) for use on the road when washing with soap and water is not available.
  • High touch surfaces like mobile phones, tablets, and children’s toys should be disinfected frequently with sanitizing wipes (at least 70 percent alcohol)

Stay safe and enjoy your trip, protecting your teenagers and children while on the road during the holidays this year. If you are visiting South Florida and are involved in an accident, call on the caring, experienced chiropractors at County Line Chiropractic Medical & Rehab Centers for help.
